Owl
Hi my name is Alex, I recently bought Hillclimber's (Dave's) '98 two door starlet, which has had a 4E-FTE engine transplant as well as a Glanza front end conversion.

Previously, I owned a four door starlet ( 1998 EP91 4E-FE White Four Door ) , to which I have applied a number of modifications, with the generous and skillful work of the S.A. lads, Brad, double0h, and scragley.
This starlet has now been passed on to my younger brother, who is fairly stoked to receive this as his first car. I know I would be laugh.gif
Surprisingly, I've found that it's handling abilities are just about on par with the Glanza. The new one is just so much more comfortable and enjoyable to drive.

I thought I'd put up this thread after yesterday, my mate Ryan and I went to Glenelg East to pick up his 1971 KE20 Corolla (now there's a car with style tongue.gif)
and we went to the beach and snapped up some tasty photographs in the sunset.

Has been the best highway cruiser for the last week or so that I've had it. Surprisingly comfortable to drive, and goes off like a frog in a sock thumbsup.gif

Can't really say much more about this other than, wow, what a car, it just feels fantastic to drive biggrin.gif

Oh, and the stereo sounds rad. First time ive had a vehicle with a subwoofer.

that car looks great I used to prefer the look of GT's but I think I am converting to Glanza's
yours even has the Glanza sticker I haven't seen many over here with that
Hillclimber
Looking very clean there Alex thumbsup.gif and sounds like you are having fun with it too.

yeah i love those stickers...
im stoked that its totally debadged.. the only text you can see is GLANZA thumbsup.gif i'm still waiting to see some blank looks with people thinking, "wtf is that?", i suppose you'd probably get that even more in a GT...

i reckon it's such a hard decision to decide which looks better, either GT or Glanza, but i think they're in a different league altogether in terms of aesthetics.
i feel the GTs have a real "tough", "don't f**k with me" look to it.. and i love that. i mean look at those matte black GTs on the Feb POTM atm... ohhhh man... *drool*
but i reckon the Glanzas have a more sleek elegantly crafted appeal.

I could describe it like this...
its almost like the GT is a hired goon in a cammo outfit and you can see that he's got some firearms on him and you'd probably like to keep your distance... surrender.gif
whereas the Glanza is appears to be an innocent businessman in a tuxedo, but little do you know that he's got two 9mm by his ankles and a machetti tucked away in his coat pocket.. ph34r.gif

I've fallen head over heels in love with this car wub.gif I've already named her; Gladys. (my last starlet i named her; Saskia)
I can imagine it would've been the hardest decision to sell it.

The only issue i've had is that it's overheated a couple of times
But I'm assuming these events have happened, because the weather we've had in S.A. recently has just been obscenely rude.
But i've learnt my lessons. I've decided that it's probably best to just totally avoid driving it hard in hot weather.
The only times it's ever gotten worryingly hot is when i've been giving it the sauce unsure.gif

I'm thinking about perhaps putting in a new thermostat... (but i'll ask dave if he's already done it recently)

the factory radiator should be sufficient, unless its partially blocked up, which i highly doubt.

i guess it probably doesn't help having a big intercooler hogging up all the "cold" air away from the radiator.. but i don't think thats really been an issue for other people before...
Hillclimber
Thermostat was new when the engine went in from memory Alex.

I would suggest the overheating would be purely a combination of driving in traffic in 40deg C weather allowing heat soak to build up with no air flow and the fact that it has a huge intercooler in front of the air con condensor core with both in front of the standard radiator.

Remember that boost = heat so 40deg C + boost = extreme heat.

It may be time to go for the alloy radiator we discussed the other day to suit the in town driving you are now doing as I never had any issues on the roads out this way but as you know there's no traffic lights. Bonus would be that it will allow room for a bigger turbo in future biggrin.gif .

I'm a dickhead.

I had an accident back in march/april, eh, it was few months ago, so she's been off the road for a few months.
Managed to drive away from the accident, so it wasn't too bad. just needs a good 1k-2k

I like that white starlet one, hopefully i can do mine like that soon
Owl
she's back on the road.
registered her yesterday.
sucks a really big one that i lost my job (redundant) 2-3 weeks ago, cos now i wont be able to afford to finish off the job properly.

so what ive actually done is removed the JDM front end (cos its damaged) and fitted on the old ADM front end so i could actually get her on the road and drive her again.

....so i pretty much have to keep my eyes closed when approaching the car holding my breath, hop in, and then its all ok again tongue.gif

oh god it was good going from my '85 honda city proT (yep, slow) and back into Gladys.

Glad to hear shes on the road again! This is truli a AWSOME Replica of a Glanza!
Owl
cheers mate. so stoked to be driving her again.
but umm ahh.. she used to be an awesome replica of a glanza sad.gif
but unfortunately my overbearing stupidity has transformed her into a hacked-up ADM-looking thing doh1.gif

whats this about you getting S2 front bar? ive got mine sitting next my room. it has a big fat dent and a rip in it sad.gif
