Hey everyone, im from new zealand where the Starlet GT is very very abundant. I have been the proud owner of my starlet for going on 2 years now. Has mainly been used as a daily driver and i have gradually done more and more mods to it as the years have passed. It is currently sitting in a friends garage having the final touches to the engine completed and i hope to have it back on the road soon. Heres some pics to give you all a fair idea of what i have built from scratch. Hope ya like....

its practically stock with a full kit and 17s on it


this pic was taken earlier this year, i had acquired a Gi bonnet which in NZ are quite rare, other upgrades are FMIC and lowered suspension


my filthy engine bay, under bonnet cosmetics hasnt yet hit me but it will eventually

nearly finished jus got the silicon bends so the 2.5" aluminium piping can go on


so so anxious for this to be finished

yeah i passed on the wheels too, havent taken an updated photo of my new rims SSA Detox. Black grill was something to have in there for the time being, i got one of those facelift grills but yeah its for the square lights and i really want some of them quad lights

hot car by the way, i'm always jealous of the imports you guys get that we don't get or are rare over here.

yeah i noticed that the price we sell our spare GT's over here for we could be rich by now
we sell them for like $1100 to $3000

i know a couple of GT's ive had i only bought them for like $1000 and flicked them for $3000

does anyone have a toms front bar they wanna sell or maybe swap for my front?

i really cant wait to get this car back, apparently my turbosmart wastegate didnt fit on the manifold properly as it hit a runner and radiator so they have redirected it
but this is what it looks like with a dummy fit of the bumper back on

yeah there is a few stories about how that plate came into mind
i first owned a GTX, but always had the intention of buying a starlet no matter what
so when i bought that plate i made it so it could go on both cars

but alas i wanna buy a new plate now

$3000 ? Mixed custom plates are only like $400-500 down here in melbourne

yup qld is a rip off! you can get number XXX-111/XXX111/XXX11 number plates reasonably cheap about $400 but not full letter ones for less than $3000

jus need to hunt down some indicator lights and then hope someone puts the DIY pics back up so i can put them on my car haha

was a nice day here in auckland yesterday so a mate and i went for a cruise

cause im putting my car off the road AGAIN to attend to some niggly bits n pieces that have been annoying me AND replace the head gasket haha
whilst im doing that il be putting in my quad headlights too and Gi bonnet and some other stuff eg. Cryo2 system and maybe a small shot of Nos for a larf

i dont think hes on the forum but when he wants to check something on here he uses my name and password
that car is a pretty cool monster in the making
building a forged 5E for it at the moment and yeah
cant wait

very nice mate, deffo like the new wheels more than the old ones. The colour is very nice too, nice paint.

I think now all you need to finish off the external look is a rear bar like your mate's blue one, just to keep the lines flowing along the underside of the car from side on and rear.

couple of q's about the blue one though what rear bumper is it thats on it, and what kind of wheels are they

both are very nice

not too sure what wheels they are i think he jus picked them up cheap as and painted them white
rear bumper is a combination of the Buddy Club Civic Rear Lip and a standard GT Bumper

Your mate has the same plates as me basically haha

23/05/10 a mate and i took our cars along to our club dyno day and came back with some very impressive results

my mates blue car did a 174kw run, 20kw improvement from a dyno a week previously and all he did was change the BOV to a true HKS one

my car only managed to pull 145kw@16psi before running too lean, but with a few tweaks it will be back on there and aiming for 160kw before i give up going for more power

Prob be best that you colour match the grill and lights. That grille has lost the prominence of a front looking gt.

aww i plan to keep them black as it breaks the colour and to me looks quite different, i havent done much to it cosmetically really as been studying but colour matching bumper and putting black mesh in aswell as painting cooler black. then gonna try figure out how to quieten all the loud things down n that haha
